About Sandy

Sandy grew up in Portland, Oregon, on the east side of the Willamette River. She fondly remembers checking out a stack of books every week from the Multnomah County Library. She was a Superman fan and defended him fiercely if anyone tried to tell her Spider-Man was better.
After graduating from Stanford University where she majored in English and French Literature and met her husband, Jeff, she studied at U. C. Berkeley to become a teacher. She taught first, second, and third grades before retiring to stay home and raise her three wonderful sons: Chris, Matthew, and Peter. When they were finally just about grown, she settled down to write a children's book. It was harder than she ever imagined but at the same time exciting to bring plots and characters to life. She's a member of SCBWI and an online critique group, Write Away. Sandy is represented by Stephanie Cardel at Golden Wheat Literary.
Her family has traveled to every continent and enjoyed many adventures together. When she saw first-hand how difficult life is for millions of children around the world, she got involved with World Vision, tackling poverty and oppression. Now she has the amazing privilege of serving on the Board of Directors for World Vision, U. S.
When she's not writing or volunteering, she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.
